Yesterday's Predator: Badlands panel at San Diego Comic-Con unveiled a new poster for Dan Trachtenberg's latest entry into the sci-fi franchise, which shows stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatang as horror's latest odd couple.
Lucky attendees also got to see the first 15 minutes of Predator: Badlands, which are unfortunately not available online for those of us not at SDCC, which apparently showed two Yautja brothers, one of whom is Badlands‘ leading man Dek (Schuster-Koloamatang), in a fierce battle to establish which of the pair is the stronger Predator. As we already know from the confirmed synopsis, Dek's weakness sees him shunned from his clan and cast into the wilderness.
On his journey, Dek comes across Thia (Fanning), a Weyland-Yutani android in whom Dek finds an unlikely ally. And backpack, apparently, according to the latest Predator: Badlands trailer. Per Fanning at SDCC:
โIt has so much heart and emotion. Prey definitely had that, but what made [Badlands] unique is there are no humans in this film. I play a synthetic android. Dimitrius is a predator […] Thereโs an unlikely friendship among these two characters. I will say, I do play two parts in the film. There are two characters that I play.โ
Now it's official that Predator: Badlands is set in the world of Alien, how about another Alien Vs. Predator? While nothing's confirmed, upon being teased by host Kevin Smith at the panel that he could be the โAlien vs Predator guyโ, Trachtenberg apparently gave a smile and simply gave the wry answer of โWouldnโt it be cool.” Make of that what you will.
Predator: Badlands opens exclusively in theaters and IMAX on November 7 via 20th Century Studios. Check out the new poster below:
