The Josh Hartnett genre renaissance continues with Deadline announcing today that the Trap star is set to lead Netflixโs untitled sea monster suspense series from The Umbrella Academy‘s Jesse McKeown.
Hartnett will executive produce the Canada-set six-episode series, as well as McKeown and Jessica Rhoades (Black Mirror). The series marks a reunion for Hartnett and Rhoades, who previously worked together on the Beyond the Sea episode of Netflixโs Black Mirror, which starred Hartnett and Aaron Paul.
Per Deadline, in the series, when a mysterious sea creature terrorizes a remote Newfoundland town, a hard-bitten fisherman (Hartnett) must fight to protect his family, his community, and his vanishing way of life.
In the writer's room are Karen Walton (Ginger Snaps), Perry Chafe (Republic of Doyle) and Natty Zavitz (Acquainted), with Jamie Childs (The Sandman), Helen Shaver (The Penguin) and Stephen Dunn (Closet Monster) directing.
Details may be scarce, but we're already sold. Look out for more updates as they swim in.
