Following its announcement all the way back in in 2022, Christophe Gans' Return to Silent Hill has been acquired for U.S. theatrical release via Cineverse, with Deadline finally revealing today that the survival horror game adaptation is set for hit theaters on January 23, 2026.
Return to Silent Hill marks Gans' return to the franchise following his 2006 Silent Hill, which blended elements from the first three games. This time around, Return to Silent Hill is directly based on Konami's 2001 game Silent Hill 2 (recently remade by Bloober Team).
Starring Jeremy Irvine (The Woman in Black: Angel of Death) and Jigsawโs Hannah Emily Anderson, Return to Silent Hill was written by Gans, Sandra Vo-Anh, and Will Schneider, and follows:
โJames (Irvine), a man broken after being separated from his one true love (Anderson). When a mysterious letter calls him back to Silent Hill in search of her, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil. As James descends deeper into the darkness, he encounters terrifying figures both familiar and new and begins to question his own sanity as he struggles to make sense of reality and hold on long enough to save his lost love.โ
Also confirmed to star is Evie Templeton as Laura, who'll reprise the role after voicing the character in Bloober's Silent Hill 2 remake. Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka is also set to return, and yes, rest assured, the iconic and terrifying Pyramid Head will be playing a starring role in the upcoming sequel.
Gans has previously reassured die hard fans of Silent Hill 2 that his adaptation will be a faithful one, created out of “deep respect” for the psychological horror classic. This news follows the exciting reveal that Bloober Team and Konami are also currently working on a remake of 1999's Silent Hill.
