SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT
Robert Brian Wilson as Billy in SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT (1984)

Originally released over forty years ago, Silent Night, Deadly Night has gone on to become a classic, a holiday slasher alongside Black Christmas for everyone whoโ€™s tired of watching Itโ€™s a Wonderful Life this year. Now, thereโ€™s a remake on the horizon, and to celebrate San Diego Comic-Con weekend, weโ€™ve just gotten our first look at the film in a new trailer.

Billed as a โ€œreimaginingโ€ of the cult 1984 film, which the trailer says โ€œtraumatized a generation,โ€ the film is set to star Halloween Endsโ€™ Rohan Campbell as the filmโ€™s cheery killer, alongside Ruby Modine, Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson. The filmโ€™s synopsis is as follows:

When Billy witnesses his parentsโ€™ grisly murder on Christmas Eve at the hands of Santa, it ignites a lifelong mission to spread holiday fear. Every Christmas, he dons the jolly red suit and delivers a blood-soaked massacre to feed his twisted sense of justice. This Christmas Eve, Billy wants to know: โ€œHave you been naughty?โ€

Written and directed by Mike P. Nelson, Silent Night, Deadly Night is executive produced by Steven Schneider, Anthony Masi, Sarah Eilts, Brandon Hill, Brad Miska, Erick Opeka, Yolanda Macias, Matthew Helderman, and Luke Taylor, with producers Scott Schneid, Dennis Whitehead, Jamie R. Thompson, Erik Bernard, and Jeremy Torrie. The film is being produced by Cineverse, the same company behind the Terrifier films, and it looks like this oneโ€™s going to be just as bloody as Art the Clownโ€™s evil rampages โ€” if not more.

The original Silent Night, Deadly Night was released in 1984, starring Robert Brian Wilson, Lilyan Chauvin, Gilmer McCormick, Toni Nero, and scream queen Linnea Quigley. Despite being pulled from theaters after only a week, the film was a success, grossing $2.5 million on a budget of only a quarter million. Since its release, the Christmas slasher has received four sequels and another remake unconnected to this one, starring Malcolm McDowell.

The Silent Night, Deadly Night remake hits theaters on December 12. Check out the trailer below:
