Popcorn Frights Festival is just over a week away, and weโve got your first look at the final group of films joining the bloody good lineup for the eleventh edition of the horror event. FANGORIA is excited to partner with the Florida festival to reveal their third wave lineup, full of brain-scorching short films, for the eleven day festival that begins on August 7.
The third wave lineup, filled with seventy-four short films across seven curated blocks, is led by the US premiere of Bullet Time, the eye-melting animated short from Popcorn Frights alum Eddie Alcazar. The festivalโs shorts lineup features stories from over twenty countries, including Tokyo Isnโt Home, As Pale as Death, Vowels, Undertone, Seance for the โGram, You Have Her Eyes, Obey!, Frankenbabes From Beyond the Grave, and the Paul Giamatti-led The Specter of Christmas. Several Popcorn Frights alumni are also bringing new terrifying stories to this yearโs festival, including Bryan M. Fergusonโs Pumpkins Guts, Jackson Stewartโs Stereo-Vision, David Yorkeโs Nervous Ellie, Rebecca Berrihโs Slow, and more.
Popcorn Frights is also continuing to champion the underground horror scene in its home state of Florida, with this yearโs Homegrown: 100% Pure Fresh Squeezed Florida Horror program showcasing a brand-new group of Sunshine State terrors. Titles in this year's program include the world premieres of Dark Water Rising, Alpaca, Phantom Pain, That Ass, It Loves Me, Shift, and Neuropsychosis.
The third wave lineup joins an already massive list of titles showing at this yearโs festival, which boasts 135 film premieres, including twenty-one world premieres, featuring titles like Americana, Queens of the Dead, and Mr. Melvin. Popcorn Fright will also be hosting a terrifying slate of triple features and special repertory screenings, including classics like Cujo, Silent Night, Deadly Night, Phantom of the Paradise, and more.
Popcorn Frights Festival takes place from August 7-17 in Miami, and you can check out the full first and second wave lineups and purchase passes and individual tickets on their website.
