Top Horror Movies Streaming This Week

The rage is spreading. Going into the third week of release for the newest film in the series, people cannot stop watching the film that started it all. Another streaming service has even added 28 Days Later to their roster, so even more eyes can see it.  Great call, AMC+. The film was very influential and inspired many films, comic books, and TV shows. 

The role of Jim was Cillian Murphy's breakout role, and Naomie Harris, Christopher Eccleston, Megan Burns, and Brendan Gleeson complete the excellent cast of an apocalypse that is all too human.

28 Days Later is now streaming on AMC+ and Pluto TV.

Now, the only film in the series not directed by Danny Boyle, 28 Weeks Later, leads you back into the destruction of the world brought on by the rage virus, and gives you a new reason to be scared. Right as NATO forces think that they can repopulate Great Britain, things go terribly wrong.

Directed by Spanish director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, it has a very strong cast with Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner, Harold Perrineau, Catherine McCormack, Mackintosh Muggleton, Imogen Poots, and Idris Elba.

28 Weeks Later is now streaming on Hulu.

The king vampire has returned to the top ten this week as Robert Eggers' latest masterpiece, Nosferatu, moves to Prime. While the film spent a week off the list, clearly interest in the film is still white hot. With such gorgeous visuals and creepy atmosphere, you can understand how audiences have been enticed back into Orklok's web. 

Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, and Willem Dafoe go buck wild in this remake of the unauthorized German version of Bram Stoker's “Dracula.”

Nosferatu is now streaming on Prime.

Director Jaume Collet-Serra's (House of Wax, The Shallows, Orphan) newest film is about a mysterious woman who repeatedly appears in a family's front yard, often delivering chilling warnings and unsettling messages, leaving them to question her identity, motives, and the potential danger she might pose.

Danielle Deadwyler, Okwui Okpokwasili, Peyton Jackson, and Russell Hornsby star in this psychological horror film based on a Black List script.  Scripts from the Black List are chosen by industry experts as the best unproduced screenplays each year.

The Woman in the Yard is now streaming on Peacock.

Elisabeth refuses to lose her sparkle, which is not just the plot of The Substance, but the film's stubborn hold on the horror fan audiences. While the film has dropped a couple of rungs, it is still here and spraying blood and viscera all over.

This beautiful film about human ugliness and selfishness stars Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley, and a very game Dennis Quaid.

The Substance is now streaming on Mubi.

There's nothing like the release of a new film in a franchise to bring the original film back into the top ten, and M3GAN is no exception. Who doesn't love to pre-game, and what better way to whet your cinematic appetite than to watch your favorites again before heading to the multiplex for M3GAN 2.0?

Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, and Ronny Chieng star in the film, and because she is M3GAN, it took two actors to bring the killer android to life. Amie Donald stars as M3GAN's physical self, and Jenna Davis gives the robot her unmistakable voice.

M3GAN is now streaming on Starz.

Steven Soderbergh's haunting and scary supernatural drama keeps creeping up on the audience and the top ten list again with a subtle terror that sticks to your brain long after the film has ended. Made for only $2 million, it has already more than tripled the money spent on the production.

Written by David Koepp, who also wrote the equally excellent A Stir of Echoes, the film stars Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, Callina Liang, Eddy Maday, West Mulholland, and Julia Fox.

It's wonderful to see Karen Kusama's underrated film in the top ten this week. Just had to say it. When a man accepts an invitation to a dinner party hosted by his ex-wife, the unsettling past reopens old wounds and creates new tensions as the man and his new girlfriend get the surprise of their lives.

Logan Marshall-Green, Tammy Blanchard, Michiel Huisman, John Carroll Lynch and Emayatzy Corinealdi star in this unsettling film that more people should watch.

The Invitation is now streaming on Max.

As a serial killer targets women on dating apps, a true-crime junkie must figure out which of her three dates is a f-boy, marriage material, or is trying to kill her. It's the eternal question for women: what's worse, dating or being in constant danger?

Directed by Laura Murphy, F Marry Kill, which means exactly what you think it means, stars Lucy Hale, Virginia Gardner, and Brooke Nevin.

Musical artist and director Flying Lotus has another slice of terror for the audience with his newest film, the science fiction fright film, Ash. Set on what is believed to be a desolate planet, a woman wakes to a spaceship filled with the corpses of her friends and crew.

Eiza González, Aaron Paul, Iko Uwais, Kate Elliott, Beulah Koale, and Flying Lotus star in this gory yet haunting film that plays with the mind of the main character, making her not trust her own memory until it is too late.

Ash is now streaming on Shudder.
