What does July have in store for the best horror movies on Netflix? Some really great things. First of all, for the 50th anniversary of the greatest shark film ever made, the streamer has made all four of the movies in the Jaws series available if you want to cool down and float in the pool while watching killer sharks for hours. If you don't want to float in any bodies of water while watching any Jaws film, it's totally understandable.

For zombie fans, the streaming premiere of the Thai undead apocalypse film Ziam is also on tap for this month. It is always exciting to see a different culture's take on the zombie myth and the requisite scares, bearing in mind that some of the best living dead films have come from international films like South Korea's Train to Busan and Taiwan's fearsome The Sadness which is even more multicultural since the writer and director is actually Canadian.

Also, the streamer has brought back a gem of a werewolf movie in The Cursed. Formerly known as Eight For Silver, the English/French co-production with tons of style has scenes of sincerely disturbing bloodletting and terror in it. If you're one of those horror fans always looking for a good werewolf movie, give it a try.

The film that made Steven Spielberg's reputation as a moneymaking director is also still a stone-cold classic of aquatic horror. Like William Friedkin's film The Exorcist,ย it is the template for all scary shark films going forward. Filmmakers, including some of the ones who directed the film's sequels, are still searching for the magic that Jawsย still has.

Based on a popular Peter Benchley novel, it has the advantages of a great cast, including Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, Robert Shaw, Murray Hamilton, and Lorraine Gary. Even the actors in the smaller roles do excellent work, which goes a long way toward explaining the movie's gigantic success. This year is the 50th anniversary of the release of Jaws,ย originally unleashed at the box office on June 20, 1975, just in time for summer.

  • Jaws 2 on July 15

In the inevitable sequel, Chief Brody must protect the citizens of Amity after a second monstrous shark begins terrorizing the waters. Steven Spielberg did not return as director, and French director Jeannot Szwarc took the helm. Murray Hamilton, as the venial mayor of Amity, and Lorraine Gary, as Ellen Brody returned to the cast.

The film's most temperamental star, Bruce the Shark, continued making life difficult for the first director, who later left the production, and three new sharks were built to replace him.

  • Jaws 3 on July 15

Dennis Quaid, Bess Armstrong, Simon MacCorkindale, and Louis Gossett Jr. star in the third installment of the Jaws franchise, and yes, it was filmed in 3-D and may have started the horror tradition of making the third film in the series a 3-D movie.

A giant thirty-five-foot shark becomes trapped in a SeaWorld theme park, and Michael “Mike” Brody, son of Chief Brody, who was nearly eaten by the first Jaws, must put a stop to the carnage.

  • Jaws: The Revengeย on July 15

Chief Brody's widow believes that her family is deliberately being targeted by another shark in search of revenge in the fourth and final film in the Jaws series. Series star Lorraine Gary came out of retirement for the role and was joined by Lance Guest,ย Mario Van Peebles,ย Karen Young,ย andย Michael Caine.

Jaws: The Revenge is a sequel to Jaws 2ย and advances a storyline where the events ofย Jaws 3ย never happened and takes place in the Bahamas, after the vengeful shark follows the Brody family to tropical waters.

  • The Cursed on July 18

Originally known as Eight for Silver, The Cursedย is a different kind of gothic werewolf story. A brutal land baron massacres a Gypsy clan claiming his land, unleashing a curse that brings monstrous consequences to his village.

Boyd Holbrook,ย Kelly Reilly,ย Alistair Petrie, andย Roxane Duran star in the film that has great atmosphere and genuinely scary scenes of werewolf and human violence. The most intriguing part of the plot is the writer and director Sean Ellis' new direction with the lore of the lycanthropes on the prowl.
