Top Horror Movies Streaming This Week

Sinners, the bloody vampire tale that has set the charts aflame in both its theatrical release and now on streaming, continues to sink its fangs into the top spot. No one expects Irish vampires with musical talents.

Michael B. Jordan stars in a dual role with Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo.

Sinners is now streaming on HBO Max.

We can't say the Z word, but 28 Days Later is the story of a postapocalyptic United Kingdom, where the pitifully few survivors have been abandoned by the government that evacuated as many as it could.

Cillian Murphy stars in his breakthrough role as half of the tough partnership of survival with Naomie Harris, and Christopher Eccleston, Megan Burns, and Brendan Gleeson round out the brilliant cast.

28 Days Later is now streaming on AMC+ and Pluto TV.

A Hard Place is now streaming on Prime.

This wild horror comedy premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was released by A24. It didn't become a blockbuster but has garnered attention on streaming and a berth in the top ten.

Starring Ayo Edebiri, John Malkovich as a hilariously vain rock star, Juliette Lewis, Murray Bartlett, Amber Midthunder, Tatanka Means, Young Mazino, you just kind of have to see it to believe it.

Opus is now streaming on HBO Max.

There might have to be a hall of fame spot for this side-splitting satire of ageism in Hollywood and the desperate pursuit and valuation of women's youth over all else. Demi Moore didn't win the Oscar for her career-best performance, but it hardly mattered, as it felt like she had already won, having finally received the acknowledgment of her talent that she had always deserved.

This hilarious yet beautiful bloodbath also stars Margaret Qualley, who played her role with a scene-stealing flair, and Dennis Quaid gave a great performance that you will never forget, especially when you are eating a plate of shrimp.

The Substance is now streaming on Mubi.

When NATO tries to repopulate England, a series of choices made by survivors and bad luck cause the rage virus victims to go on the rampage again on the Isle of Dogs, an area near the Thames that has natural defenses from the violent killers, or so the United States forces believed.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, the Spanish director, brought this sequel to the original to the screen with a cast that includes  Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner, Harold Perrineau, Catherine McCormack, Imogen Poots, and Idris Elba.

28 Weeks Later is now streaming on Hulu.

When you hear the name Panos Cosmatos, you probably think of his cult classic horror film Mandy, and for good reason, because it is wonderful. But his debut film, Beyond the Black Rainbow, has come to streaming, and you can now experience its gorgeously serene chills.

You are probably not ready for maestro David Cronenberg's newest film, but it is ready for you. Cronenberg's most emotional and funniest film is a meditation on the terrors of love and grief. It is the technology of the grave that casts a knowing eye on our eventual decay and our fears of our future, but with a wink and sensual power.

It stars Diane Kruger, in a triple role, Vincent Cassel, who is styled to look astonishingly like the director, Guy Pearce, and Sandrine Holt. Karsh, the founder of Gravetech, a company that provides the bereaved with a way to monitor the bodies of their relatives as they decay, falls into a web of conspiracies and paranoia while trying to navigate through the loss of his beloved wife.

The Shrouds is now streaming on The Criterion Channel.

It was bound to happen, but after the release of the newest film in the I Know What You Did Last Summer series, the original film comes to the streaming top ten for the first time. Written by Kevin Williamson and starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr., this well-loved late 90s slasher has once again captured fans' hearts.

The tale of a group of friends who make the mistake of their young lives after partying on the beach and attempt to cover it up, rather than take responsibility, is something that many of us can relate to. When the spectre of the past reappears and begins killing the friends to avenge that death, it's a cat and mouse game to see who can survive.
