Produced by Final Destination creator Jeffrey Reddick and directed by Hellbent and Angel of Death‘s Paul Etheredge, indie horror The Other hits Digital and On Demand on June 13 via Quiver Distribution, and we've got an exclusive trailer reveal.
Starring Olivia Macklin, Dylan McTee, Avangeline Friedlander, Lily D. Moore, and Saw legend Shawnee Smith, The Other was born from a nightmare Etheredge had that raised the question: What happens when parent/child bonding utterly fails, and the relationship becomes dangerous?
In The Other:
After years of infertility, Robin and Daniel adopt Kathelia, a mute orphan with a dark past. But their dream turns to horror as eerie events unfold and Kathelia’s behavior grows unsettling. As an evil force takes hold, they must fight for their family—and their survival.
Speaking exclusively to FANGORIA, Reddick had the following to say of his involvement with The Other:
“We need more original genre films. I’ve been a long-time fan and friend of Paul Etheredge, so I was thrilled to work with an amazing group of producers, talent, and crew to bring Paul’s spooky, quirky, fun, and thought-provoking film to life. The Other is grounded in real emotional stakes and relatable family fears, but Paul takes it to the next level with his twisted sense of dark humor and a gonzo climax you have to see to believe.
Etheredge expands more on the film's inception, saying:
“The idea behind The Other came to me in a nightmare. And the film captures the same not-quite-real feeling of a dream, while delivering a thrilling, emotional, and utterly grotesque ride – with a banger ending!”
