Robert Eggers has found his leads for his next film, and theyโ€™re a pretty familiar pair for fans of the director. Variety reports that Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to lead Eggersโ€™ thirteenth-century set film Werwulf, with Lily-Rose Depp in talks to star as well. Both starred in Eggerโ€™s 2024 effort Nosferatu, with Depp leading the film and Taylor-Johnson featuring in a minor supporting role.

No details are available about the film at the moment, but we do know Eggers is directing from a script he co-wrote with Icelandic poet and screenwriter Sjรณn, who he previously worked with on The Northman. The film is set to premiere in America on December 25, 2026, and is produced by both Eggers and Sjรณn, as well as executive producers Chris and Eleanor Columbus. Will the Old English film inspire a meme as legendary as Nosferatuโ€™s? Only time will tell.

But of course, Werwulf isnโ€™t the only project Eggers currently has in the works. The director behind The VVitch and The Lighthouse is also working on a reimagining of A Christmas Carol for Warner Bros., with his frequent collaborator Willem Dafoe currently reported as the frontrunner for the role of Ebenezer Scrooge.

Heโ€™s also reported to be helming a sequel to Labyrinth, the 1986 cult classic directed by Jim Henson and starring David Bowie as the mysterious Goblin King.
