The musical adaptation of the 1987 vampire horror The Lost Boys, produced by The Conjuring and Insidious star Patrick Wilson, officially hits the boards for the first time in spring 2026 at the Palace Theatre.
Million Dollar Baby‘s Marcus Chait and The Punisher‘s James Carpinello also produced the vamp showstopper, with direction by Tony Award winner Michael Arden (Parade, Maybe Happy Ending), book by David Hornsby (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia writer/EP) and Chris Hoch, plus music and lyrics by rock The Rescues (Kyler England, AG, Gabriel Mann), with Tony Award nominee Ethan Popp (Tina, The Tina Turner Musical) serving as Music Supervisor and General Management.
Officially titled The Lost Boys, A New Musical, the show features scenic design by Dane Laffrey (Maybe Happy Ending), costume design by Wicked‘s Susan Hilferty.
Casting news is still under wraps for now.
In a joint statement, Carpinello, Chait and Wilson expressed their excitement for the upcoming musical and the team responsible for bringing the show to life:
“Michael Arden is one of the most dynamic directors working today, and to have him reimagine an iconic film like The Lost Boys is thrilling, especially when we consider how it will come to life at the legendary Palace Theatre […] David Hornsby and Chris Hoch have done a remarkable job of honoring this classic film and its beloved characters, creating something new and unique for the stage that will excite the die-hard fans of the movie as well as those being introduced to this timeless story for the first time.”
Joel Schumacher's classic 80s horror starred Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Alex Winter and Jami Gertz, and followed two teenage brothers who move with their divorced mother to the fictional town of Santa Carla, California, only to discover that the town is a haven for vampires. Grossing over $32 million against a production budget of $8.5 million, The Lost Boys spawned two sequels, a series of comic books and now, a musical – an achievement which not a huge amount of horror movies can proudly boast.
