With contestants including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Jumanji and Edward Scissorhands sets, LEGO's Build Your Nostalgia โ 90s Throwback challenge was a feast of great ideas, but the winner has been announced, with an official The X-Files set soon to come our way.
Designed by Lego Ideas user WetWired, The X-Files: The Truth Is Out There set pays homage to the classic sci-fi series, coming complete with a Grey alien and its spaceship, mini replica of Fox Mulderโs FBI office (I Want To Believe poster included!), a mini Dana Scully, Assistant Director Walter Skinner, Syndicate Leader and Eugene Tooms, plus a teeny tiny Jersey Devil to lurk among the LEGO trees.
LEGO Ideas and WetWired will now work together to develop the set of approximately 2,020 pieces, a proposed design of which you can see below (the final product may differ slightly).
The LEGO Ideas team explained their reasoning for choosing to make WetWired's The X-Files a reality:
โThe X-Files first burst onto our TV screens in 1993, before running for 11 seasons and ultimately becoming a worldwide phenomenon. Now, weโre excited to see it return in LEGO form. WetWired says their creation is filled with references to the series and that the build offers the chance to piece together the global conspiracy, brick by brick.โ
Keep an eye out for more development news on WetWired's The X-Files LEGO set, and for more, here's everything we know about Ryan Coogler's upcoming reboot of the series.
