The third season may not have aired yet, but AMC's The Walking Dead spin-off, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, has been renewed for a fourth and final season, which will see the titular zombie apocalypse survivor head to Spain.
Star Norman Reedus will of course return for the role, with Melissa McBride returning as Daryl's right-hand lady, Carol Peletier.
Per the official announcement made during the showโs Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, production is set to start later this month on the eight-episode season.
The third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will see Daryl and Carol traverse unfamiliar landscapes and encounter new challenges brought on by the walker apocalypse started all the way back in 2010, with the television adaptation of Robert Kirkman's comic book series.
Here's what Reedus had to say about Daryl's journey ending in this iteration (while also teasing that this is definitely not the end for the crossbow-wielding fan favorite):
โDaryl Dixon has been an incredible journey. I thank each and every fan who has joined us on this ride. Itโs been a privilege to build this story for these characters, and we have so much gratitude for how itโs been embraced. Your love and support have made every moment worth it. This finale isnโt just an ending; itโs a celebration of what weโve all shared together. Keep carrying that love forward โ Darylโs journey is far from over.โ
McBride adds:
“It has been the thrill of a lifetime to shoot this part of Daryl and Carolโs adventure together in Europe and I keep coming back for more of these two characters. There is still so much story left to tell and so much for the fans to look forward to. Iโm going to revel in the moments as they come and am excited for the fans to see what we have been working on in these incredible locations.โ
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is executive produced by Scott M. Gimple, showrunner David Zabel, Reedus, McBride, director and SFX legend Greg Nicotero, Brian Bockrath, Angela Kang, Jason Richman, Dan Percival and Steve Squillante.
